Welcome to First Grade in Room 202

Dear Room 202 Parents,

Hello and welcome to a brand new school year. I hope you are having an enjoyable summer. My name is Jennifer McDonnell and I will be your child’s first grade teacher. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child, and I hope you are as excited as I am to start the new school year. This is going to be my twenty-fifth year teaching in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District. I was a second grade teacher for four years at Nether Providence Elementary School, a science teacher for three years at SRS and last year was my seventeenth year of teaching first grade at SRS. As I am typing this I cannot believe that I have been teaching this long because it feels like a few years ago that I started my teaching career. Time really is a funny and strange thing!

I know this can be a challenging transition for some of you as your child goes off to school for a full day, but please be assured that first grade in Room 202 will be comfortable, loving, safe and engaging.
