The Wallingford-Swarthmore School District is committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students and employees. The District is also dedicated to ensuring that every student has equal access to the District’s educational programs and activities. Additionally, the District’s policies require that all schools and all personnel promote acceptance and respect among students and staff. This policy reflects the Board’s support in ensuring that gender expansive and transgender (GET) students are provided such equal opportunity and access to programs, services, and activities.
To ensure that GET individuals are provided with such equal opportunity and access, the Board authorizes the Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee to develop and promulgate regulations designed to ensure the safety, comfort, and healthy development of GET students while maximizing such students' social integration with other students and minimizing stigmatization and isolation. The regulation’s purpose is to provide guidance for District staff regarding issues relating to GET individuals in order to create and maintain a safe and supportive environment for all.
