Dismissal during the first week of school will take a bit longer than typical weeks. We appreciate your patience as we work to get all students to their scheduled destinations safely and accurately. 

Important Reminders:

• Please not park in the front or back bus loop of the school between 3:10-3:50 pm as we will be utilizing the areas to transport students home, including stationing school buses there each day. 

• Please refrain from bringing dogs with you when dropping off and picking up children. We have students who have allergies, fears, etc. 

• If you have a change in dismissal, please send in a note with your child in the morning and/or submit through PowerSchool. We know that things come up and emergencies happen, but we appreciate your help in avoiding last minute changes in dismissal. If you have a change after 3pm, please call the front office rather than submit through PowerSchool. 

• Kershaw Road has parking on one side only. This is important for buses turning out of the back lot to transport children home.

Dismissal Changes for this year: 

• This year we are moving back to our pre-covid dismissal procedures. There will no longer be a carline at the end of the day. If you wish to pick up your child, please park your car and walk up to wait at the Parent Pick-up Door, located at the Kershaw Road side of the building at the Gym. Please line up and wait for your child to be dismissed. A team of teachers will be at the door supervising the release of children to their parents/caregivers.

• Walkers -We do have some students who walk to and from school each day. This year, independent walkers will be dismissed from the Library Walker Door. Crossing guards are located directly in front of the building, at the intersection of Possum Hollow and Providence Road, and at the intersection of Brookhaven Road and Kershaw Road.  

• Buses will be in both the front and back of the school during dismissal. Please be mindful of this if you are driving and parking to pick up your child. 

Kindergarten Mid-Day Arrival/Dismissal

Kindergarten mid-day pick up and drop occurs in the front of the building (Providence Road). 

Kindergarten regular day   8:45 – 11:30 (AM) & 12:45 –   3:30 (PM)

Kindergarten delayed opening 10:45 – 12:30 (AM) &   1:45 –   3:30 (PM)

Kindergarten early dismissal   8:45 – 10:00 (AM) & 11:15 – 12:30 (PM)

Guidelines for Car Line - Arrival (located in the back bus loop each morning)

***Students should not arrive at WES before 8:20 AM, unless they are attending a music lesson or have a scheduled appointment. We cannot ensure proper supervision before 8:20.

Thank you to our PTO volunteers who help us run the car line smoothly each morning! Please remember the following guidelines when dropping students off at school at morning car line:

• Drop off needs to be quick, efficient and safe to avoid a back up. 

• Drivers should stay in the car and have your children exit on the passenger side.

• The drop zone is along the curb area at the back of WES. 

• Please do not talk on your cell phone.

• Please do not pass other cars.

• Please pull forward so those behind you can drop off.
